If you like close third-person viewpoints this book is perfect for you: there are six different characters who are narrating the whole story, that takes place in a magical universe, where you can get lost also in the second chapter of this duology, Crooked Kingdom.

3. Eleanor and Park – Rainbow Rowell

Do you love 80’s music? Are you in comic books and do you like reading about original love stories? Perfect: this is a piece of advice for you. Everything changed on a school bus for the main characters of this book… everything could change for you wherever you’ll be reading.

4. The Girl on the Train – Paula Hawkins

This is an amazing thriller: maybe you have heard of it because it became a movie, but since I read the book I chose not to watch the movie ‘cause everyone kept telling me that the movie wasn’t good enough to cope with the book. Believe me: you must read it.

5. IT – Stephen King

Soon there will be a reboot of this one piece of horror history: haven’t you read it yet? Now you have another reason more to read it: don’t you know that “the book is always better than the movie”? How could you decide if this is the case of this new movie if you haven’t read it?

6. Nineteen Minutes – Jodi Picoult

Sometimes we all need to cry a little bit, being moved by a movie, a song or a book. This Jodi Picoult’s novel is made to make you think and maybe to make you cry a little too. This book is 10 years old now, but school shooting, unfortunately, is a problem that still afflicts US.

7. Dark Matter – Blake Crouch

“Are you happy with your life?” How would you answer to this question? The main character of this book lives an adventure that literally changes his life. Maybe this book won’t change your life, but it will help you think a lot about your priorities and your choices, we’re sure about it.

8. Beautiful Ruins – Jess Walter

The novel is a social satire which explores human nature and satirizing the Hollywood culture that is at the center of the book: which season better than summer is done to indulge in gossips and small talks?

9. The House of the Spirits – Isabel Allende

This book is something special: it starts telling you the story of the Trueba family, spanning four generations and tracing the history of Chile, but it will end telling you something about yourself that you didn’t realize till that moment. Allende’s pen is magical and her first novel is something you have to read, at leats once in your life.

10. Nick and Norah’s infinite playlist – Rachel Cohn & David Levithan



This is a book for someone who still believes in love, even if love hasn’t shown him/her lot of mercy… the novel gives you hope, but above all, gives you amazing music suggestions and some quotes that you’ll be able to use in real life for the upcoming years. I’m telling you this, cause it happened to me, and it still happens…

Comme toujours, les photographies de David Collier sont extrêmement vivantes et ressemblent à des instantanés capturant le moment sans trop penser au résultat. Cette série est ultra estivale, dégage une atmosphère joyeuse et a été shootée en film 35 mm, en Polaroid, et il y a aussi quelques images numériques.

« Avec l’été le plus chaud jamais enregistré, avec des températures constamment au-dessus de 35 degrés, notre bande, qui vit bien trop loin de tout océan ou de toute plage, décide d’organiser sa propre pool party dans le jardin. Ça commence avec Georgia et Bella qui traînent à la maison et décident d’appeler Chayde pour voir si elle veut les retrouver au magasin du coin, prendre quelques snacks et boissons, puis filer dans leur jardin pour un peu de fun estival. Elles décident de gonfler la mini piscine pour se rafraîchir et, bien sûr, de façon très australienne, de s’amuser aussi avec le tuyau d’arrosage. Pour moi, ça montre un été australien typique et, comme vous pouvez le voir, nos filles s’éclatent vraiment. »

« J’avais déjà travaillé avec mes trois modèles et je savais qu’elles seraient partantes. Elles sont toutes super simples et, comme le montrent les images, elles rendent super bien à la caméra. »

Against the Waves est composé de cinq mecs talentueux de Madrid qui se battent et bossent dur depuis 2008, devenant l’un des groupes espagnols les plus excitants à découvrir. Leur dernier album a été enregistré aux États-Unis avec Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men…) : il sonne assez énorme pour faire s’écrouler une montagne — on l’adore !

Bellako - Mataró (Barcelone) - (Hardcore/Metal)

Musique lourde, gang vocals et marijuana font probablement partie du quotidien de ces cinq gars complètement barrés de Barcelone. Ils jouent depuis 2010, tournent dans tout le pays, font tomber les scènes et brisent des nuques. Si tu kiffes Hatebreed, Madball ou Brujeria… roule-toi un joint et profite!

Blaze Out - Barcelone (Metal/Thrash)

Ils sont jeunes, talentueux, et ils deviennent assez populaires sur YouTube. Leur dernier single « Wrath Afire » a dépassé les 1 500 000 vues sur YouTube, et ils ont joué dans des festivals comme le Resurrection à Viveiro. Attention : ce n’est pas un one-hit wonder, ce n’est que le début de quelque chose d’énorme ! Pour les amoureux du heavy-thrash!

Brothers Till We Die - Madrid (Hardcore/Metal)

Ne te laisse pas tromper par leurs visages angéliques ! Ce sont des bêtes de moshpit, et leur musique va te fracasser la gueule et te retourner le cerveau. Leurs concerts sont énormes aussi. Ne rate pas leur prochain album « The Thin Line Between Death and Immortality ». Il sort en 2017.

Cannibal grandpa - Madrid (Deathcore)

Quel genre de musique tu t’attendrais à entendre d’un groupe avec un nom pareil ?
C’est la B.O. parfaite pour de gros circle pits avec tes potes. Si tu le mets assez fort à la maison, tu vas faire fuir ta mère et tes grands-parents! Ça vaut le coup d’oreille.

Crisix - Barcelone (Metal/Thrash)

Formés dans une ville de taille moyenne, Igualada, ils sont l’un des groupes les plus internationaux de la liste. Lassés de tourner dans la péninsule Ibérique, ils visent l’Amérique du Sud, où ils ont un public très passionné. Ils ont même inventé un concept hybride entre le football et la danse pogo.
Ces grands enfoirés de metal sont prêts à conquérir le monde ! Rien ne les arrêtera.

Dawn of the Maya - Pamplona (Metal/Hardcore)

Les Mayas ont essayé de prédire la fin du monde… mais ce qu’ils n’avaient pas prévu, c’est cette formation all-star venue de Pampelune. Une batterie géniale, plus un mélange de vocals qui t’arrachent la gorge et de refrains mélodiques, ça donne une belle rafale de morceaux que tu ne veux pas rater.
Ils ont un nouvel album intitulé « Colossal ».

Hyde abbey - Barcelone (Deathcore)

Nés dans la Californie européenne, « El Maresme », on ne comprend toujours pas ce qui les a fait basculer du côté le plus sombre de la musique. Ils ont du talent, de la passion, et ils savent sortir un breakdown bien comme il faut. Leur mentalité est très ouverte et c’est un groupe qui tourne comme des acharnés. Pouce en l’air !

Meltdown - Hernani (Pays basque) - (Metal/Hardcore)

On adore leur nom ! (Chanson d’Enter Shikari ! cool !) Mais c’est surtout leur talent exceptionnel pour composer qui fait la différence. Ils sont jeunes et assez doués pour proposer un metal technique et électronique que tu ne peux pas manquer. On espère les voir bientôt dans notre ville 😉

HAMLET - Madrid (Metal)

Hamlet fait partie de ces groupes qui sont là depuis la fin des années 80, mais qui n’ont cessé de se réinventer pour rester au goût du jour auprès des nouveaux fans de metal. Avec plusieurs albums à leur actif, ils sont déjà une légende de la scène metal espagnole et presque tous leurs concerts affichent complet. On a la chance de les avoir dans la famille American Socks 😍

Pas assez pour toi ? Chaque scène musicale est très complexe, et on a essayé de citer seulement quelques-unes des dizaines de super groupes qu’on a ici. Ton groupe n’y est peut-être pas, alors n’hésite pas à nous envoyer ta musique par mail et on l’écoutera au bureau.

Soutiens et respecte tes groupes locaux. Le chemin jusqu’au sommet est long, et chaque artiste mérite une mention, une écoute et une opportunité.

Beaucoup de groupes n’ont pas été retenus cette fois-ci. C’est pour ça qu’on sortira le VOL. 2 très, très bientôt !

While doing some B2B business we got dancy with the rest of exhibitors with one of the most known Spanish music anthems: "La Macarena". Rad times.

Vous vous êtes déjà demandé ce bordel qui se passe en Italie ?

On ne sait pas vraiment si la pizza est effectivement le plat magique du pop-punk ou si les anciens Romains ont transmis de l’ADN punk aux jeunes Italiens d’aujourd’hui. Le fait est que, depuis la fin des années 2000, de nombreux groupes de la « Penisola Appenninica » sont au sommet de la scène européenne. Il ne fait aucun doute qu’encore aujourd’hui, une bonne poignée de groupes se démarquent et apportent leurs meilleurs morceaux sur des tournées impressionnantes et dans des festivals internationaux.

Ce n’est qu’une question de temps avant que la prochaine grosse révélation du pop-punk ne brandisse un drapeau italien.

Nous avons listé ci-dessous 10 super groupes italiens que vous devriez aller écouter dès maintenant. Parce que « Italians Do It Better »… n’est-ce pas ? (sans ordre particulier !)

 

1.Melody Fall

Les gars de Turin se sont produits dans plusieurs pays comme le Japon ou la Chine et, après plus de dix ans, ils continuent de brûler du carburant pour sortir des albums à un niveau impressionnant. Leur dernière sortie, « The Scene », est une belle allégorie de la vie en tournée et de leur passion pour la musique.

2. Sunset Radio

Tout droit venus de Ravenne, ce groupe de cinq musiciens vient de sortir son premier album, « Vices » : un excellent départ qui a déjà inclus des concerts aux côtés de groupes internationaux comme Our Last Night et une tournée européenne. Ils font partie de la team American Socks et, ouais, ne les manquez pas en live. Accrochez-vous : ce n’est que le début.

3. Vanilla Sky

Que dire ? C’est le groupe italien de pop-punk le plus international ! Devenus populaires grâce à leurs reprises, le point culminant de leur carrière a été la sortie de « Changes », un album qui comprenait une collaboration avec Mark Hoppus ! Esprit soufflé. Le succès est aussi passé par des festivals internationaux et des tournées bondées.

Aujourd’hui, leur base de fans principale se trouve en Russie, où le groupe compte une énorme communauté.

4. Why Everyone Left

Si vous cherchez des mélodies pop et des refrains accrocheurs avec un vrai bagage hardcore, Why Everyone Left est le groupe qu’il vous faut. Leur dernier LP, « Been Home Enough », leur a donné l’occasion de tourner au Royaume-Uni en juin dernier et d’ouvrir pour certains des plus grands groupes grand public de la scène pop-punk. Ils ont beaucoup de projets, dont un : conquérir le monde.

5. The Last Confidence

Après quelques changements de membres ces dernières années, ces gars de Cortenuova rament pour revenir au sommet de la vague. Du pop-punk énergique de première classe, qui clame haut et fort « Defend Stage Diving ». Ils ont déjà joué dans de nombreuses villes à travers toute l’Italie et prévoient maintenant une tournée européenne. On espère vraiment qu’ils passeront par les bureaux d’American Socks pour traîner et boire quelques bières !

6. Rising Over

Ces gars mélangent le meilleur de deux mondes différents : le pop-punk le plus intense et des riffs techniques issus du retour du hardcore. Ils ont aussi sorti un morceau de Noël que vous devriez aller écouter. Bien joué!

7. Well Planned Attack

Ce groupe est né à Padoue en 2012. Dès le départ, leur credo a été de tourner sans relâche. Et ils l’ont fait, en voyageant dans des pays comme le Canada, le Japon ou même la Russie, prouvant que la musique italienne mérite qu’on l’écoute. On ne connaît pas leurs projets futurs, mais on va suivre de près leur trajectoire ascendante.

8. Summer of Hoaxes

On adore ce groupe et on l’a déjà passé plus d’une fois au bureau grâce aux super voix de Phil. Les refrains sont tellement faciles à chanter que vous ne pourrez plus vous les sortir de la tête. Le groupe apporte à la scène un vrai pop-punk influencé par les années 90 et, en ce moment, il enregistre un nouvel EP qui sortira en 2017.

9. Leftovers

Fortement influencé par Blink-182, ce groupe mérite d’être mentionné : leur musique s’écoute facilement et vous ramène direct à vos années lycée. Basés à Rome, ils ont réussi à se faire une place sur la scène. Ils devraient quand même améliorer leur game de chaussettes. 😉

10. Halflives

On voulait inclure dans ce blog un groupe mené par une femme, et Halflives ne font pas seulement partie de notre team : c’est aussi un groupe TRÈS talentueux. Elles visent haut et travaillent comme des pros pour sortir des clips et des productions incroyables. Leur rock alternatif est fait pour résonner dans d’énormes arenas. Elles partent en tournée en Europe en 2017. Assurez-vous d’assister à l’un de leurs concerts ❤️

Il faut aussi mentionner les groupes qui ont tracé la voie pour les plus jeunes, à l’époque où la scène était plus petite. Ensemble, ils ont fait la différence grâce à beaucoup d’efforts, de travail acharné et de persévérance.

TALES FROM THE CRYPT

Hanging out with the dead while listening to a Misfits album (The ones featuring Glen Danzing... Of course!) is what we did with Enzo Iriarte.

Facing the sea and guarded by strict vigilantes lays the scariest cemetery you've ever been: Barcelona Montjuïc Graveyard.

After sunset the departed come back to life, but just before things got messy we had enough time to meet Harley Quinn (Steffie Hache) and some Skull guys (Juan García & Sergi Sánchez).

The undead came after us as we disturbed their rest and had to leave, but we'll be back to satisfy our interest in graveyards.
