Before Louisville there was a road trip. From Columbus, Ohio to the Highland Festival Grounds in Kentucky, this is how we got to Louder Than Life 2026, September 17 to 20: four days of heavy music, a storm, new friends, old friends and a collab sock that is already gone forever.

Columbus: loading up and catching up
The trip started in Columbus, where we had left all the booth gear after our first run of festivals this season. We met up with Anna and Daniel to catch up, load the truck with everything we needed and get the crew ready for round two.

On the road: Ohio to Kentucky
Then we hit the road. We drove across Ohio, crossed the river at Cincinnati and rolled into Kentucky, with a few classic stops along the way. Retro drive-in signs, endless highway and, of course, a late night Waffle House. Road trip rules.

Our home base for the week was a log cabin with a bright yellow balcony. Every morning the whole team sat down for a full breakfast before heading to the festival. Fuel for long, hot days.

Louder Than Life: one of the best lineups out there
Louder Than Life is billed as America's largest rock and metal festival, and its lineup is one of the best in the world. This year there was huge hype around Limp Bizkit, and the rest of the bill was just as wild:
- Thursday: Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Rise Against
- Friday: My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, A Day to Remember, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Sleeping with Sirens
- Saturday: Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Sublime, Babymetal, Halestorm, Ice Nine Kills
- Sunday: Tool, Gojira, Mastodon, The Prodigy, The Mars Volta, Danny Elfman
We set up the booth and got ready for a weekend of serious heat.

Borndead Clothing joined the crew
In Louisville we had backup from the Borndead Clothing team, who signed up at the last minute. Vinnie is the founder, and Borndead, with Kate and Marissel, have been friends of American Socks forever. We even did a collab together in the past, and this time they said yes right away. These people are made of something else: great energy all day long. We went out together to the emo night at the festival and then got ready to sell a lot of socks.

No more invisible socks
The festival is huge, and our booth sat on one of the main walkways, so we got to talk with tons of people and show them they needed new socks in their life. We'll never understand why people buy brand new boots for a festival and then wear invisible socks with them. Luckily, we've got you covered.
A storm couldn't stop it
On day two, Friday, an electrical storm rolled in and the whole festival had to be evacuated. We closed up the booth and waited it out. But nothing was going to stop Louder Than Life: the gates reopened and My Chemical Romance still played their full set that night.

Breakfast, helpers and a lot of water
The routine was simple: wake up, full team breakfast, festival. We even had two helpers who drove all the way from Wisconsin just to sell socks with us. Thank you so much!

The Louder Than Life collab: sold out, never coming back
This year we made a collab sock with Louder Than Life, with a Louisville Kentucky print, and it was different from anything else at the booth. It sold out at the festival and it will never be made again. If you got a pair, you've got a piece of history.

The four days flew by, with plenty of hydration, good people and a lot of socks. Thank you, Louisville. Let's go!
